Summer in the Cerdagne: five ideas from the chalet
A mountain holiday does not need to be a series of long hikes. In Bolquère, in the Font-Romeu Pyrénées 2000 area, balance discoveries with time at home. Adapt these five ideas to the weather, opening arrangements and your group’s abilities.

1. Discover the Bouillouses landscapes
Choose this outing for lakes and mountain scenery. Before selecting a walk, consult the tourist office about access and suitable routes. Road traffic is regulated in season, while shuttle buses and lifts have their own operating hours.
With children, a manageable outing everyone enjoys is better than an overly ambitious goal. Plan the return, carry water and keep an alternative for changing weather. The chalet is your holiday base; we do not claim that the Bouillouses are an immediate walk from the door.
2. Explore the Pradeilles area
Bolquère Pyrénées 2000 tourist office also includes this area among its summer ideas. Read the official description and access information for your chosen route: not every circuit suits every walker.
A lake photograph does not tell you the elevation gain or current path conditions. For younger guests, plan breaks, sun protection and a warm layer.
3. Choose part of the Train Jaune route
The Train Jaune runs from Villefranche-de-Conflent to Latour-de-Carol. Instead of trying to cover everything, choose a section that fits the timetable and the time you want to spend on board.
Check SNCF for services and engineering works, then organise transport to the station. Check the return before buying an outward ticket. It offers a different pace in a week otherwise focused on walking.
4. Arrange an activity with a local professional
For cycling or a guided discovery, start with activities listed by the tourist office and then contact the provider. Ask about duration, required ability, equipment, children’s participation and bad-weather arrangements.
A group of twelve does not need to do the same activity. Arrange a shared moment afterwards rather than imposing one full-day programme on everyone.
5. Keep a proper day at the chalet
Isard has three bedrooms, a south-facing terrace and a fireplace for six guests. Loups has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an enclosed garden and a private sauna, also for six. Grand Chalet reserves both floors for your group of twelve.
An unplanned day leaves room for cooking, reading or the garden, depending on your chosen home. It also makes rescheduling an outing easier. Explore the galleries together to choose spaces you will enjoy staying in as much as heading out from.
